Controlled Assessment One

The first controlled assessment constitutes 10% of the final GCSE mark. The controlled assessment involves a days field work in Ogmore and Southerndown to complete the field sketches that form the basis of the investigation. The investigation focuses around the general theme of coastal processes and the landforms which they create.

The first phase of the controlled assessment is the research phase which lasts for 5 hours (in addition to the field work). During this time, pupils will need to research and learn about the topics that underpin the coursework and prepare for the field work.

The controlled assessment write-up phase consists of 4 hours in exam conditions. This is where the pupils will work at computers to complete their projects based upon what they have learnt during the research phase.
