Field Work

Field work is seen as vital in the imparting of geographical understanding. Geographical investigation and field work develops thinking skills, questioning, the formulation of opinions and the evaluation of information. As such the Geography Department endeavours to undertake field work as frequently as is possible to allow pupils the opportunity to observe real World examples of what has been taught within the classroom.

At present the field work schedule is as follows:

Year Seven: Local Investigation

River Landforms and Processes

Year Eight: Redeveloping Tourism in Porthcawl

Year Nine: Out of Town Development: Bristol (Cribbs Causeway and Bristol Zoo)

Year Ten: Coastal Landforms and Processes: Ogmore and Southerndown

Year Eleven: TBC

Year Twelve: Residential Field Work: Nettlecoombe Field Studies Centre

Year Thirteen: TBC
